Online training FAQ

Below you will find a list of the most frequently asked questions about our online training.

If you can't find the answer to your question below, please email us at: [email protected]

  • Is the online training free?

Yes, the online training is currently completely free.

  • Who can complete the online training?

Anyone across the world is welcome to take the training but please be aware that it was developed for school staff and wider children’s workforce professionals in England so it will be most relevant to them (especially when it comes to the Law).

  • What are the minimum system requirements for the online training platform?

Please use our Technical Checker Tool before starting the training modules to make sure you have the correct system requirements for the e-Learning platform.

  • Where do I sign up?

You can register and gain access by clicking on this link. Please ensure that you enter your email address correctly or you will not receive the welcome email.

  • I have registered for the online training platform but I haven’t received the welcome email.

Please check your spam/junk folder before getting in touch. If you have still not received it after checking, please contact [email protected].

  • I’ve forgotten my login details – what should I do?

On the login page, please select the ‘Request new password’ option. You will then be sent an email with a link to reset your password. If not received, please check your spam/junk folder before getting in touch.

  • I’ve put my login details in incorrectly and now my account has been locked.

As a security feature, your account will be locked after 5 failed attempts to login and it will stay locked for 6 hours. You can get around this by resetting your password.

  • Does the online training save my progress if I log out?

Yes, you will see your progress recorded in the menu on the lefthand side of each course. This means that you don't need to do a course in one sitting.

  • How long do I have to complete the online training?

There is no time limit - you can complete the online training in your own time. However, please note that inactive accounts will be deleted after 2 years (see answer below for further details).

  • How long is my account kept on the online training platform for?

Accounts are deleted after 2 years of inactivity. If you would like your account to be deleted sooner, please contact [email protected]. If you want to review our privacy policy, please click here. Please note that once your account has been deleted, you will permanently lose access to any of your previous progress and certificates. As such, please ensure that you have saved/downloaded any certificates you want to keep.

  •  Are the online training courses certified?

Yes, all our e-learning courses are CPD-certified and count towards your continuing professional development. A CPD certificate is available on completion of each course via the platform.

  • What are the CPD Points for the online training?

CPD Points refer to the length of the course, e.g. if a course takes 1 hour, that’s 1 CPD point.

You can find out more on the CPD website: https://cpduk.co.uk/news/cpd-points-units-credits

  • I’ve completed the training course but I can’t download my certificate.

All lessons and questions within each course must be completed (with a tick next to each lesson in the course menu) - then click the ‘Finish’ button at the bottom. Once completed, certificates can be downloaded at any time by clicking the pink tick at the top of the course menu or from the My Trainings section of the platform.

  • Can I get group/school access for multiple users?

Each staff member/user must set up their own personal account so the platform can track their progress and issue them a personalised certificate for each course.

  • How can I find out which members of staff have completed the training?

Due to data protection reasons, we cannot share the details of other users. To find out which staff members have completed the training, please ask them to provide you with a copy of their certificate/s.

  • Is there a limit to the number of users that can complete the training at once?

There is no set limit but please note that large numbers (eg. 100 people) completing the training in the same setting may cause your internet/the platform to function more slowly. We recommend smaller groups or allowing staff to complete the training in their own time.

  • I can’t play the videos or view the media files in the online training courses.

This may be an issue if you're using an old web browser. Please use a modern web browser, such as Google Chrome, Safari or Firefox. You can also use our Technical Checker Tool to ensure you have the correct system requirements for the platform.

  • The online training platform won't load.

We are aware of an issue that is causing the Training Catalogue/My Trainings section to be slow for some users. We are looking for a resolution and apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Please note that this issue does not affect the courses/lessons themselves, so if you are experiencing slowness within the courses/lessons, please do check your local internet for any issues.

To avoid slow loading, we suggest users to launch their desired training course from the list provided on the ABA website - instead of the Training Catalogue/My Training. Please also allow time in your plans for any delays you may experience.

  • Which Screen Readers can I use?

H5P (which the training is built with) has tested its compatibility with free screen readers like NVDA and ChromeVox. You can find out more here.

  • Why are some questions asked before I am given the information needed to answer them?

This training is designed to improve knowledge. It is not necessarily about getting 100%. Some questions are designed as a learning tool, rather than just to test you.

  • I’m still having trouble, who can I contact?

Please email [email protected] with a description and screenshot of the issue, where possible.
