The Anti-Bullying Alliance and Friends, Families and Travellers are working in partnership to deliver a Gypsy, Roma and Traveller Anti-Bullying Project. This three year project, running from September 2019 - August 2022 is part of a wider programme funded by the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation. The main aim of the programme is to challenge bullying, ensure that Gypsy, Roma and Traveller children feel safer in schools and have cultural affirmation.
As part of the project, we delivered focus groups with Gypsy, Roma and Traveller young people to find out about their experiences of bullying and hear what they think schools should do to prevent and respond to bullying. We then produced a report with recommendations from the young people and developed a school audit tool to accompany the report, which can be downloaded at the bottom of this page. The recommendations in the report and accompanying audit tool are entirely based on their feedback.
You don’t see any representation of Gypsy, Roma and Traveller in schools. We are invisible.

We incorporated these tools and resources into our flagship whole school online anti-bullying programme, United Against Bullying.
The good teachers notice you. They notice when you are struggling with your work. They notice that changes on your face if something is up. They notice you and come and check on you. They get to know you.
