Anti-Bullying Week is coordinated by the Anti-Bullying Alliance in 2017 took place from 13th - 17th November and was supported by SafeToNet.
- We delivered a broad range of materials for schools including cross-curricular activities, lesson plans, assembly plans, merchandise, posters, top tips, films and many other resources from across our membership. Our school packs (primary, secondary and Odd Socks Day) were viewed over 185,000 times.
- We introduced Odd Socks Day for the first time which was a very big success and celebrated anti-bullying activity in a positive way.
- Our social media campaign reach included:
- sum of potential reach across three hastags #AntiBullyingWeek #OddSocks #AllDifferentAllEqual was over 90 million. With unique user potential reach over over 65 million.
- 6,036,708 - Impressions on ABA content (+370% on last year's figures)
- 54,128 - Engagements on ABA content (+332% on last year's figures)
- Our media campaign reach included:
- ITV, This Morning, Channel 5 News, BBC, BBC Click, Times Educational Supplement, Daily Mail, The Sun, Huffington Post, BBC Newsround, MTV and MumsNet
- We had over over 700 press and online media articles which equated to:
- Anti-Bullying Alliance almost £1.3m advertising and over 46 million reach
- Anti-Bullying Week over £2.1m advertising and over 62 million reach

What did people tell us?
We conducted a survey in early 2018 to find out what people thought of Anti-Bullying Week 2017. Over 600 students filled it in and 200 professionals. This is what they told us that 76% of professionals and 73% of students had Anti-Bullying Week in their school or college. Of those professionals who held Anti-Bullying Week 76% of them used the theme 'All Different, All Equal'

Excellent way of creating awareness and each year a new theme is covered which enables pupils and staff to explore beyond.
It promotes equality and gives the children chance to discuss and role play different scenarios about bullying and how it can be dealt with.
It gave children an opportunity to really think about what bullying means, what it is, what they can do and who to turn to.

The theme in 2017 was 'All Different, All Equal' and it had the following aims:
empower children and young people to celebrate what makes them, and others, unique
- help children and young people understand how important it is that every child feels valued and included in school, able to be themselves, without fear of bullying
- encourage parents and carers to work with their school and talk to their children about bullying, difference and equality
- enable teachers and other children’s workforce professionals to celebrate what makes us ‘all different, all equal’ and celebrate difference and equality. Encouraging them to take individual and collective action to prevent bullying, creating safe environments where children can be themselves.
Odd Socks Day 2017
Anti-Bullying Week 2017 saw ABA hold its first ever Odd Socks Day. Working with Andy Day – cBeebies presenter and lead of Andy and the Odd Socks – to hold Odd Socks Days on the first day of Anti-Bullying Week in schools across England. Pupils and staff across schools in England wore their Odd Socks to celebrate what it’s important to be yourself. It was a great success and we will be holding an Odd Socks Day in Anti-Bullying Week 2018.
