Young ABA was set up in 2022 to influence our project and programme work, help develop the messaging and campaign of Anti-Bullying Week, and to provide general feedback on bullying to help us include young people’s views into ABA Membership.

What is Young ABA?
At the Anti-Bullying Alliance, we believe that children and young people should actively participate in decisions that affect them. That's why in 2022 we set up Young ABA (YABA), our children and young people's group.
YABA gives young people the opportunity to share what is important to them when it comes to bullying issues, and contribute to our projects, programmes and campaigns. They are provided with training opportunities such as social media marketing training, media training and anti-bullying training, and the chance to influence our annual Anti-Bullying Week campaign that reaches millions of children and young people across the UK.
YABA meet online bi-monthly (excluding school holidays) with the Anti-Bullying Staff Team.
The young people are involved in the group for one year (until December). At the end of the year, our 2024 group graduates and a new cohort will be selected for 2025.
Who can join?
We have 2 YABA groups, one for England and Wales, and one for Northern Ireland. However, both groups will work together throughout the year. The groups consist of 25 young people aged 13-18 from across England, Wales and Northern Ireland, nominated by their school or setting because of an interest in raising awareness of bullying, and learning about developing campaigns.
When it is time for us to take on a new group, we reach out to schools and other settings or groups in our network and ask them to put forward young people who show an interest in joining YABA. We ask for a maximum of 3 young people nominations per school or setting to ensure we have representation from a wide variety of locations.
If you are a school or setting in England, Wales, or Northern Ireland, who would like to find out more about nominating a pupil or pupils to join this year's groups, please email [email protected].
