Help us unite against bullying, at no extra cost to you.
Each year, UK charities are missing out on £560 million of Gift Aid on eligible donations. If you can add gift aid to your donations it will enable us to claim an extra 25p for every £1 you donate at no cost to you. This will help create a safer world for children and young people.

Frequently Asked Questions about Gift Aid
What is Gift Aid?
Donating through Gift Aid means charities such as the Anti-Bullying Alliance can claim an extra 25p for every £1 you give – at no extra cost to you.
Who can claim Gift Aid?
You can add Gift Aid to your donations if you’re a UK taxpayer. Your donations will qualify as long as they’re not more than four times the amount of tax you’ve paid in that tax year (6 April to 5 April). The tax can have been paid on income or capital gains.
How does Gift Aid work?
When a UK taxpayer donates to a charity, tax has already been paid on that money. Because charitable donations are exempt from tax, the charity can reclaim the tax from HMRC and add it to your donation, increasing its value at no extra cost to you.
Can my sponsorship money have Gift Aid?
Yes! The easiest thing to do is to set up an online fundraising page using JustGiving. This platform will collect Gift Aid declarations when people donate to your page so the Anti-Bullying Alliance will be able to claim Gift Aid on those donations.
If you don't want to set up an online page, you can download this sponsorship form. Be sure that anyone sponsoring you who is eligible for Gift Aid completes all the required fields and ticks the Gift Aid box. This ensures their Gift Aid declaration is valid and allows us to claim the additional funds.
Are only personal donations eligible for Gift Aid?
Gift Aid can only be claimed on personal donations from UK taxpayers. Money raised through collections or donations made on behalf of a company are not eligible. This includes donations made from company funds or donations made on behalf of a group of people. If you are raising sponsorship money, please see the above question regarding how to ensure this has Gift Aid.
Do I need to give permission for Gift Aid if I have already given permission to another charity?
In order for the Anti-Bullying Alliance to benefit from your generosity, you need to give separate permission for Gift Aid to each charity you support.
What do I do if I’m a high value donor?
Your gift could be worth 25% more at no extra cost to you simply by adding Gift Aid. HMRC will contribute an extra 25p for every £1 you donate to the Anti-Bullying Alliance.
For example, if you’re a UK taxpayer and donate £10,000, we can claim an additional 25% through Gift Aid. This means we receive an extra £2,500, increasing the total value of your gift to £12,500 - all at no extra cost to you.
What if I am a higher-rate tax payer?
Higher rate taxpayers who complete a Self Assessment tax return can claim back the difference between the basic rate and their higher rate of tax on charitable donations. For example, if you pay tax at the 40% rate, you can claim back 25p in tax relief for every £1 you donate to charity. You can find out more about this here.
What do I do if I’m a pensioner?
As a pensioner you may still pay tax on a private pension plan or savings account, or you may pay capital gains tax if you sell property or shares. As long as you have paid enough tax during the year to cover your donations, you can Gift Aid them.
Why have I received an email asking me if I would like to opt in for Gift Aid?
We email donors periodically to ensure our Gift Aid declarations are up to date. If you would like to not receive these emails, please notify us at [email protected].
