Professor Lucy Betts (Nottingham Trent University)
I am a Professor in Social Developmental Psychology at Nottingham Trent University and lead NTU Psychology's bullying and aggressive behaviour research group. With over 15 years of experience in undertaking research in the area of social development psychology, my research focuses on the topics of bullying, cyberbullying, and harassment in public places. Underpinning my research is a desire to understand how young people experience cyberbullying, the distinction between bullying and banter, perceptions of relative risk of cyberbullying and online harms, and the impact bullying has on well-being so that we can reduce bullying and develop anti-bullying interventions. I joined the Anti-Bullying Alliance as a core member in 2018 and became a trustee for the Ben Cohen StandUp Foundation in 2019.
