Pupils at Frodsham CE Primary School in Cheshire were treated to an unforgettable surprise today as Andy Day, CBBC and CBeebies star and lead singer of Andy and the Odd Socks, dropped in for a surprise performance on behalf of the Anti-Bullying Alliance.
The school won the visit after being selected from thousands of schools across the UK who took part in Odd Socks Day 2024, a vibrant celebration of difference and unity held during Anti-Bullying Week each November. Andy’s high-energy visit was in recognition of the school’s incredible efforts to raise awareness and celebrate what makes us all unique.
Andy Day, who is also a long-standing patron of the Anti-Bullying Alliance and co-founded Odd Socks Day, led pupils in a joyful gig featuring songs that champion kindness, respect, and embracing differences, core themes of Anti-Bullying Week. Pupils were delighted to see one of their favourite TV stars from CBBC’s Andy and the Band in the flesh, singing along and dancing in their odd socks.
Anti-Bullying Week is coordinated each year by the Anti-Bullying Alliance, based at leading children’s charity the National Children’s Bureau. In 2024, over 80% of schools in the UK took part involving millions of children. This year’s campaign, running from Monday 10 to Friday 14 November 2025, will focus on the theme ‘Power for Good’, a call to action for children and young people to use their voices and actions to stand up to bullying in all its forms.
The surprise performance was part of the Alliance’s ongoing mission to support schools in preventing bullying and creating inclusive environments where all children feel safe and valued.

We’re thrilled that Andy Day could reward their fantastic efforts with such a special visit. Bullying continues to affect far too many children across the UK, and it’s vital that we continue working with schools, families and children themselves to tackle it together.”
Andy Day, lead singer of Andy and the Odd Socks and Patron of the Anti-Bullying Alliance, said:
“We’ve met some amazing young people today who totally get what Odd Socks Day is all about, being proud of who you are and treating others with kindness and respect. It’s been such a joy to play for them and remind everyone that being different is something to celebrate, not hide.”
