Children’s TV Mega Star Andy Day, along with his band The Odd Socks, is patron and long term supporter of the Anti-Bullying Alliance (ABA). Now Andy is setting out on a three-week mini tour of schools up and down the country to promote this year’s Anti-Bullying Week on behalf of ABA and its theme for 2022 ‘Reach Out’.
Andy started the tour in Enniskillen in Northern Ireland and is now en-route to surprise children by visiting primary schools during assemblies in Glasgow, Warrington, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, London and Cardiff in the lead up to Anti-Bullying Week which starts on 14th November.
Anti-Bullying Week has become a fixed annual date in the diary for thousands of schools across the country and is an important vehicle for the discussion of bullying and how to deal with it at a young age.
The tour dates are as follows:
- 3rd Nov – Glasgow
- 4th Nov – Wigan
- 7th Nov – Manchester
- 8th Nov – Wolverhampton
- 9th Nov – Bristol
- 14th Nov – London
- 16th Nov – Cardiff
Media wishing to join the assemblies should contact [email protected]
In line with the theme ‘Reach Out’, Andy will himself be reaching out to his many friends and celebrities in children’s TV such as Mister Maker, Nigel Clarke, Evie Pickerill, Rory Crawford, Naomi Wilkinson and Hacker the Dog, to join him on his school visits and help promote this years’ campaign.
This will be the 6th year that Andy and the Odd Socks have officially supported Anti-Bullying Week. Their intention is to help make the serious subject of bullying understandable for young children, especially with the introduction of Odd Socks Day which launches Anti-Bullying Week on Monday 14th November. Odd Socks Day is a simple but effective day whereby children and their teachers wear odd socks to schools to highlight that we are all different and to celebrate what makes us all unique.
Every year, Andy and the Odd Socks record a special song for the theme of Anti-Bullying Week. This year’s song is called ‘Calling Out’ and the video will be launched on Friday 4th November.
