There is a strong link between mental health and bullying.
As the diagram below shows, young people who have experienced bullying are more likely to experience mental health issues and those who have mental health issues are more likely to be bullied.
Below you will find links to information, tools and resources to develop your understanding of the link between mental health and bullying. We will also be adding more tools, resources and case studies from participating schools throughout the programme so do check back.
We will be asking you to submit supporting evidence of your work on this area in the final audit, along with sections 1-6.

It has been particularly useful to have a Senior Mental Health Lead who has been able to access training by the Anna Freud Centre. This has provided our school with an excellent range of resources to support both staff, pupils and parents
The mental health of a child can be severely damaged by the experience of being bullied and it is necessary that this is taken into account when dealing with an incident. Putting in place pastoral care, both adult and peer, and working with the parents, helps the children to feel supported and listened to.
