Writing competition winners

the summer we teamed up with Random House Children's Publishers to run a writing competition for children and young people in school and colleges across England. Entrants were required to write a short story, blog, news article or poem of no more than 500 words describing their vision of a world were everyone is treated equally and we have stopped bullying for all.

Winner of the 8 - 12 year olds category

Nikhita Sivakumar (Year 7) Scissett Middle School

If there was a world without bullying

If there was a world without bullying,

The flowers would bloom and shine.

The grass would be a whole lot greener,

There would be no such word as 'mine'.

If there was a world without bullying,

A smile would mean a lot.

No hatred and no anger,

But a meaning that you've forgot.

If there was a world without bullying,

Whether you're fat or you are thin.

You wouldn't be judged on looks,

Nor the colour of your skin.

If there was a world without bullying,

The sun would finally rise.

The sky would turn blue,

You'd take off that disguise.

Winner of the 13 - 18 year olds category

Katie Stokes (Year 10) Eggar's School, Holybourne, Alton

That Person

I am that person that thought you deserved it,

I am that person that didn't know when to quit.

I am that person that played with your head,

"You fat cow" I regrettably said.

I am that person that you bullied in school.

I am that person that didn't know how to act cool.

I am that person that you called fat,

I am that person that when you looked at me you shouted "OMG what is that".

I am that person that encouraged it greatly,

I am that person that is regretting it lately.

I am that person that should have spoken,

I am that person that has realised that you are already broken.

I am that person that told the teacher,

I am that person that was not going to be the teaser.

I am that person that stopped it all,

I am that person that was bullied for being small.
